Toxic spill

This is an attempt at an interior scene, lit with a pair of area lights, one located outside the window, the other behind the camera. The furnace, reactor and tap on the cylinder were modelled in Rhino, and the geometry simplified and tweaked up in Lightwave modeller. The tarpaulin was draped over a stack of cylinders using the LW motion designer. The texture on the cylinder is a mixture of two surfaces created using the Surf Mixer shader which was new in LW7.5b.

Several trial renderings were made of the various components of the scene to check the geometry, textures and to assess the lighting options.

Cylinder Head

The cylinder head, in its original NURBS geometry from Rhino, rendered using BMRT with the help of the Rhinoman plugin.

An LW test render combining several of the scene elements, showing the veins bump texture on the skull, and the rusty nuts on the cylinder head. Focal blur was added using the Digital Confusion filter.
