Right: The Brecon and Monmouthshire canal, somwhere near the village of Govilon.
The canal runs towards Abergavenny and via a short detour down a marked path it is possible to join national cycle route 46 at Llanfoist. From here route 46 runs a short distance along the River Usk and back into the Abergavenny.
Continuing along the escarpment in an easterly direction allows one to pick up the road which descends into the village of Gilwern, and from there connect with the towpath of the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal.
