Molecules

My program dspovtols converts a POV-Ray file exported by DS Visualizer, a popular viewer for molecular structures, into an LScript. The LScript constructs a model in Lightwave, where it can then be animated. The animation shows a zinc finger protein binding its DNA substrate (pdb 1AAY, Pabo et al).

The program MOtoPOV generates orbital contour plots from MOPAC files and outputs POV-Ray files or LScripts. The animation shows an orbital of benzaldehyde in a cloud of steam. I chose this effect because it would be quite difficult to produce without using dedicated animation software.
