Cwmcarn

Cwmcarn Forest is north of Newport and can be reached by bicycle from Cardiff by a route along minor back roads, or by a more direct route with a fairly rocky and steep off-road section between Machen and Cross Keys.

Right and below: The Twrch mountain bike trail in Cwmcarn forest. These sections are fairly gentle, so I was able to easily stop to take photographs. Other sections are steeper and rockier.
