Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe was built as a monument to the victories of Napoleon’s armies. It stands around 50 m high, in the middle of a traffic island from which radiate avenues. There is a small military museum inside, and the tomb of the unkwown soldier and internal flame are underneath.

Centre: The Grande Arche de La Défense - quite huge - mostly occupied by offices. The ride to the top in the glass lift is not for those with vertigo.
